More than members: The Sheppard Robson Story

Sheppard Robson has been part of Article 25's More Than a Building network since it first launched, and today that relationship runs deeper than membership alone - from a Gold membership, to an Ambassador helping the network grow, to a former Chairman now giving his time to Article 25 each week.

Who is Sheppard Robson?

Sheppard Robson is a British architecture practice founded in 1938, with studios in London, Manchester and Glasgow. Today the practice brings together around 460 people, working across numerous sectors that include residential, education, workplace and life sciences.

Known for a “people-centred, precision-made” design approach, Sheppard Robson has long been recognised as a leader in sustainable design - including delivering one of the UK's first net zero carbon homes back in 2007 - and continues to push toward more responsible, lower-carbon ways of building today.

Why does Sheppard Robson support More Than a Building?

Alan Shingler, Chairman, Sheppard Robson said:

“We are proud to be a Gold member and provide support to Article 25, helping to achieve their mission to ‘Design and build high-quality hospitals, schools and homes in the places that need them most’. The More Than a Building initiative allows us to enjoy memorable events with like-minded businesses who share similar values.”

A practice deeply involved in the network

Sheppard Robson's involvement in More Than a Building goes beyond membership alone. Partner Mark Kowal is one of Article 25's four Ambassadors for the network, helping champion the organisation and the More Than a Building network in particular.

And the former Chairman of Sheppard Robson, Malcolm McGowan, works for Article 25 on a pro bono basis for one to two days a week.

Through Gold membership, an Ambassador role and a former Chairman's ongoing pro bono support, Sheppard Robson exemplifies the kind of collective input - networking events, pro bono hours, training exchange and shared expertise - that helps Article 25 deliver hospitals, schools and homes for vulnerable communities in some of the world's most challenging environments.
