Continuing on from the successes of our 2017 winter period, London Warm and Healthy Homes is expanding throughout London in 2018/19. Our free fuel poverty workshops give practical information on how to effectively heat your home for less, the energy grants and financial assistance available and the health do’s and do not’s of dealing with someone at risk in a low temperature environment.
We have already reached over 100 people via 6 workshops in the London borough of Newham alone through our partnerships with SHINE Islington, ChapmanBDSP and AgeUK, amongst others. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many participants reporting their homes have been noticeably warmer without increases in their heating bills.
We are currently in the process of applying for funding for this years round of winter workshops and aim to provide 10 workshops throughout London. We are also currently reaching out to community centres in areas of high fuel poverty with the intention of hosting our workshops for the benefit of their users.
