South Pole Expedition

Architect Jon Beswick came into our offices recently to share his experience of his expedition to the South Pole. For almost 2 months Jon was a part of a British expedition organised to mark the 100 years anniversary of Captain Robert Scott’s fated trip to the South Pole.

Despite the severe weather conditions and distance they had to cover on skis, his team reached the Pole on the day of the anniversary. They also managed to play a game of cricket against a team of international scientists, winning the title for Great Britain .

Jon also developed a cold weather shelter which he tested on the trip which used an insulating layer filled with snow to shield inhabits from the wind and cold. The aim is that this shelter is developed for youth in the extreme conditions of the poles and the Himalayas.

Jon is helping to raise money for Article 25.
