Article 25 is a global reaching humanitarian architecture charity dedicated to building safe and dignified shelter as defined by the UN. We design and build homes, schools and hospitals in poverty stricken areas. Our impact is precise, our buildings sustainable and uniquely designed to meet the needs of the communities they serve. We are currently looking for an Architectural Assistant to support our Architects with our ongoing projects.

We are currently seeking a motivated Part 2 Volunteer Architectural Assistant with a passion for international development to provide assistance to the design teams. This is an incredible learning opportunity for keen and energetic individuals who are looking for valuable experience and wish to work in this field, not to mention a chance to work with our dynamic, innovative and expanding charity.

The office is a hard working environment where you will be expected to be able to take initiative and produce work to a high quality. You will have a chance to make a genuine creative contribution.

Current project locations include Myanmar, Haiti, Tanzania, Nepal, India and Niger.

Skills and knowledge

  • Strong design skills

  • An interest in international development and sustainable design practices

  • Strong in areas of planning execution

  • Problem solving and strategic thinking capabilities

  • A sensitivity to and knowledge of other cultures

  • Able to exercise good judgement

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Candidate requirements

  • RIBA Part ll qualified (or equivalent)

  • Software skills such as AutoCAD, Adobe, etc.

  • Confident and resilient

  • Sensitive and diplomatic

  • Resourceful

  • Strong team player with collaborative working style

  • Displays honesty, integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all decisions and actions

This position calls for someone with good drive and a flexible work ethic who is looking to get experience in architectural practice.

This position is available to ideally full time candidates for a minimum commitment of 6 months.
