Mahdi is a Project Architect at Article 25, currently working on a school in construction in Haiti and a new all-inclusive infant school in Tanzania. He has worked on a number of projects spanning different sectors including education, housing and transport.
At his previous office, he led the design and build of a Primary and Secondary School in rural Cambodia, working alongside the local community which was officially opened in June 2017. He has also designed a Village Clinic in his native Bangladesh and was part of the charity, Building Trust International to design and build an eco-tourism lodge in the northern plains of Cambodia. This project made use of natural materials including earth and bamboo along with recycled plastic bottles.
Mahdi enjoys carrying out community consultation and thinks this is vital to delivering a successful project after the designers and builders have left. Transfer of knowledge and skills is one of the key aspects that he tries to push from both sides and believes that a successful project can be delivered when teams work together by understanding and respecting each other’s skillset.
